Welcome back to our Employee Spotlight series. Here at HR, we feel very fortunate to be surrounded by such amazing colleagues, each possessing a diversity of skills and expertise.

This month we are shining a light on our Summer 2021 Intern, Corisa Alkins.

Meet Corisa Alkins.

Corisa is a student at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. During her 12-week internship, Corisa has had the unique opportunity to shadow various departments to see the ins and outs of HR Pharmaceuticals. So far, her favorite experience at HR has been the concord vs. eastern kickball game and the staff appreciation picnic. She adds, “Nothing compares to the supportive and friendly culture here at HR!”

What is a normal day as an HR intern?

A normal day as an HR intern begins with the assigned manager describing their daily tasks and creating projects for me to do throughout the day. Getting hands-on assignments and seeing how all of the departments run throughout the company is essential to my growth as a student and as a future business leader.

The medical device industry is rapidly growing with many career opportunities and room to excel.

How has this experience shaped or impacted your career goals?

This experience has been one of a kind. Going into my senior year of college, I was uncertain about the direction of my career. Coming into a young and successful company has shown me triumphant leadership and a progressive culture with new ideas. I now have a clear objective in continuing my career. I know I will always have my mentors from HR there to support me.

What advice would you give for future interns at HR?

Some advice I’d give an incoming intern at HR would be to come in every day with an open mind and ready to learn. Dive into each department with a goal in what you want to get out of the experience.
